The University of Nevada, Reno invites applicants with strong customer focused leadership and thorough knowledge and understanding of research integrity and Institutional Review Board regulations for the position of Director, Research Integrity, and Security. Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President of Compliance and Research Administration (AVPCRA) within Research and Innovation, the Director is responsible for the leadership and effective management of the University of Nevada, Reno Research Integrity, and Security Programs. This position oversees and manages Human Research Protection staff and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) coordinators responsible for protocol reviews, committee management, and post approval reviews/audits of human and vertebrate animal research, as well as the coordination of the Institutional Biosafety, Radiation Safety and Lab Safety Committees. The Director assists the Vice President of Research and Innovation with responses to allegations of research misconduct and is responsible for the development and management of training programs in the Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR). The Director manages and supports the Conflict-of-Interest Program, Export Controls, Effort Reporting and Research Security Programs. The Director ensures the University’s training programs for research integrity and security are compliant with federal, state, system, and institutional regulations. This position provides guidance to UNR officials, faculty, staff, and students relating to federal regulations, state and local laws, guidance and policies pertaining to research integrity and security.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to apply policies and guidelines, establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals at various levels, adapt to a variety of situations, understand, and interpret policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations and exercise sound judgment to make objective, fair, and consistent decisions.
