The Research Assistant will assist on multiple projects. In addition to the general duties outlined above, specific duties will include recruiting patients, administering patient questionnaires, and collecting patient samples. The research assistant will work with patients via telephone and in person in a Geisinger clinic setting. Additionally, the Research Assistant will assist with a study on opioid use disorder and its treatment. Specific duties for this project will include recruiting patients receiving treatment for opioid use disorder into the study and conducting structured interviews. The successful candidate should therefore demonstrate empathetic and authentic communication skills, as well as a commitment to patient confidentiality. Responsibilities will also include tracking the recruitment process and patient samples, for which strong organizational skills are essential. The Environmental Health Institute:The Research Assistant will work on multiple studies in the Geisinger and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Environmental Health Institute (EHI). The EHI team is dedicated to understanding how where people live effects their health. The team studies the built, social, and natural environment in relation to a range of diseases, including diabetes, respiratory conditions, sinus disease, Lyme disease, and SARS-CoV-2.
Job Duties
Assists in day-to-day project activities such as maintaining study documentation, attending and documenting study meetings, etc.
Conducts data entry and manages computer databases used for data collection.
Conducts literature searches and fact-finding research to support project development.
Assists with data collection and data analysis.
Assists with the development and maintenance of study documents.
Develops a working knowledge of study protocols.
Prepares and maintains regulatory documents according to governmental regulations and sponsor requirements.
Assists with subject visits including obtaining vital signs, performing clinical tests, collecting clinical samples, and data collection.
Performs recruitment tasks including database searches, patient recruitment calls, recruitment letters, and informed consent discussions.
Navigates, performs data searches, and schedules appointments.
Assists with grant submissions and grant funding opportunities and participating in pre-award grant process, as applicable.

Hours: 8a-4:30p
Travel: less than 25%- some study work will be in local ENT clinics
Preferred Experience: Communication and people skills, will be approaching patients in clinic as well as doing phone calls to possible research participants
