The New York City Health Department's Division of Disease Control is responsible for the prevention, identification, surveillance, and control of infectious diseases in NYC.
The Division is composed of seven bureaus: Bureau of Division Management and Systems Coordination, Bureau of Communicable Disease Control, Bureau of Hepatitis, HIV and STIs, Bureau of Immunization, Bureau of Tuberculosis Control, Bureau of Public Health Clinics and the Public Health Laboratory.
We are seeking to hire a Senior Policy Analyst.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
• Conduct scientific research to inform the Health Department’s position on proposed federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.
• Assist in developing positions for the Division on policies related Division programs and the populations we serve.
• Create and maintain a research database to track developing federal, state and local laws.
• Draft comments, position statements, and memoranda on proposed federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Assist with communications projects, including reviewing and crafting provider- and public-facing research messaging.
• Assist in the Health Department’s COVID-19 response.
• Draft policies and protocols for the Division.
• Draft responses to inquiries from elected officials, the press, and constituents regarding the Division’s policies and programs.
• Coordinate with other Division bureaus on policy and programming initiatives.
• Attend policy-related conferences and events.
• Assist in the development of the Division’s annual legislative and regulatory agendas.
• Assist in developing and implementing cross-cutting policy initiatives impacting black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), immigrants, LGBTQI+ and TGNCNB persons, homeless and unstably housed persons, justice involved persons, and other priority populations.
• Participate in Health Department cross-divisional policy workgroups and initiatives.
