The Core Research Assistant (RA) III will oversee and execute experiments under the direction of the Core Manager and/or Director. The Core RA III will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing the multiplexed immunofluorescence platform (PhenoCycler) recently acquired by the ITR and developing flow cytometry (CyTEK) panels. Responsibilities include conducting day-to-day experiments, troubleshooting assays, and analyzing data under minimal supervision. Furthermore, the Core RA III will manage the workflow related to these services, in addition to reporting results to collaborators.

The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) Innovative Translational Research Shared Resource (ITR) is seeking an experienced Research Assistant to support translational cancer research studies focused in immune-oncology. This individual will be a key contributor responsible for conducting experiments in a highly collaborative environment with clinical and basic science investigators, other Vanderbilt Shared Resources (i.e., core labs), and companies.

Under minimal supervision, plan, conduct, and evaluate experiments and assays of varying complexity
Develop and follow experimental protocols
Record, compile, and report data
Analyze and interpret data
Troubleshoot protocols as necessary
Participate in beta-tests of new protocols and products as directed by the Core Manager and/or Director
Ensure Laboratory is prepared for experiments
Maintain inventories
Maintain sterile conditions as required
Prepare reagents
Clean equipment
Under the direction of the Core Manager and/or Director, oversee and execute the day-to-day core services workflow of the lab
Interact with core clients in the planning and execution of experiments/core services, advising PI's as necessary
Assist in day-to-day problem solving, including prioritization of the PhenoCycler and CyTEK workflow
Assist in development and implementation of new core services
Read and follow all equipment manuals
Maintain instruments/equipment used for services provided by the core
Troubleshoot PhenoCycler problems
Recommend equipment needed for protocol improvement as needed
Develop usage protocols for new equipment acquired by the Core
Provide training to new staff, as needed
Administrative duties
May utilize the iLab system for documenting services provided
Accurately compile information for monthly billing (i.e., timesheet)
Assist in developing cost analysis/documentation of services as they are developed in the core
Assist in preparing cost estimates based on experimental design of investigators
