ROLE of the POSITION
The University of Nevada Las Vegas has the primary goal of becoming a Top Tier research institution, and the quantity and quality of research projects has escalated to meet this challenge. University researchers must be in compliance with federal and state laws and university policy to comply with the Assurance (license) granted by the federal government.
This position is necessary to ensure human research compliance and consistency in the application of regulations across the variety of units conducting research at UNLV, and to ensure that proposals to conduct human subjects research are reviewed and approved in a timely manner.
KNOWLEDGE
Required
- Knowledge of federal and international compliance regulations and guidelines that govern human subject research including; Federal Policy 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50, 21 CFR 56, Belmont Report, Declaration of Helsinki, and Nuremberg Code.
- Basic knowledge of Food and Drug Administration regulations.
- Knowledge of research terminology and methodology pertaining to research with human subjects. Basic knowledge of human subject protocol review and revision procedures.
Preferred
- Have the knowledge and capability to advise faculty and student researchers on research record-keeping and techniques for monitoring their research activities to be in compliance with federal regulations.
- Be able to effectively advise faculty and student researchers on the compilation of research protocol and informed consent documentation.
- Knowledge of clinical trials billing and budget development
SKILLS
Required
- Must be able to interpret and explain human research compliance laws and university policy to faculty, staff, and student researchers.
- Must be able to perform a preliminary administrative review of complex research protocols and identify problems and issues.
- Must possess working knowledge to coordinate and organize complex technical meetings. Responsible for the completion of minutes for all IRB meetings.
- Must have the initiative in collecting technical information from a wide variety of sources.
- Must have the ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and records with tact and discretion.
Preferred
- Be able to assist with the development of materials for maintaining AAHRPP accreditation.
ABILITIES
Required
- Must have exceptional computer skills to maintain intricate protocol databases as well as database manipulation and information capture and use of other relevant computer software applications.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Note: This position can work remotely from anywhere in the United States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. One or more years of experience working as an IRB administrator is preferred. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
SALARY RANGE
Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. The position is contingent upon funding.
