The Director of Research Compliance (DRC) reports directly to the Vice President for Research and Innovation (VPRI) and is responsible for monitoring and facilitating compliance with federal and state mandated regulations/best practices involving animal care, human subjects, safety of recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecule research, research integrity/misconduct, and export control. The DRC also serves as the lead administrator for the IRB, IBC and IACUC at all CMU-affiliated locations (e.g., Mount Pleasant, Detroit, and Saginaw) and coordinates with other university compliance committees. The DRC develops policies and procedures related to university compliance with federal and state regulations affecting university research and teaching and identifies areas of opportunity to improve efficiency and effectiveness of internal proces
Bachelor's degree. Five years of research compliance experience. Experience in the review of research protocols. Strong familiarity with the federal and state regulations governing academic research. Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff to develop a culture of compliance at CMU. Willingness to travel to national and regional meetings and training opportunities. Willingness to manage compliance operations across multiple CMU, and CMU-affiliate, sites/cities. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
