The Compliance Manager (IRB) and Grants Generalist will be a part of a team to forward Seton Hall’s Office of Grants and Research Services (OGRS) and as the prime mover of day-to-day operations and administration for the Seton Hall University Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Research Ethics Committee. The incumbent must ensure full compliance with Institutional, State and Federal regulations and guidance regarding human subjects’ protection as per the Common Rule (45 CFR 46), the Privacy Rule (45CFR 160,164), and others as needed. The incumbent will manage the protocol submission process, coordinate the review process, and manage the reporting of IRB decisions through the Cayuse electronic IRB platform. This position will assist the OGRS as a Grants Generalist in the performance her/his role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Point of contact for the Seton Hall University community and IRB members for IRB processes, regulations, and institutional policy regarding human subject’s research; provide assistance to faculty and student researchers with questions related to their submission(s); assist the Director of the Institutional Review Board with the on-going review, development and implementation of policies and procedures, and provide education and training to the Seton Hall University research community and IRB members; manage the Cayuse electronic IRB platform, assist the IRB Director as needed in determinations regarding level of review required and appropriate IRB members; facilitate the development and review of Reliance Agreements with unaffiliated entities as needed; oversee facilitation of IR Board meetings and direct correspond with investigators regarding all IRB actions, including records of all meetings.
Oversees audits and routine inspections of study source documents and informed consent forms, maintenance of the archive of submissions and monitors information on the university’s IRB website to maintain accuracy.
As Grants Generalist, participates in administering and maintaining the Scry (Amaforge) system for timely and targeted notification of grant opportunities as well as the Cayuse proposal management system; proposal assistance and deadline monitoring; assisting the Director and/or Assistant Director of OGRS in their work to raise Seton Hall’s profile in the amount of successful grant applications, other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree - Extensive experience in an administrative role within a university-based IRB and grants office may substitute for the above.
Experience with Common Rule, Revised Common Rule, and Pre- and Post-2019 45 CFR 46 is required and familiarity with federal and non-federal grant policies is required.
Minimum of 3 years in an administrative role within a university-based IRB and grants office is required.
Experience with an electronic IRB platform is required.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Word and Excel required.
Excellent written and oral communications skills, and maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in work with a fast-paced and diverse environment are required.
Higher Education degree preferred
Experience with Cayuse Human Ethics electronic IRB platform is preferred
Active credentials as a Certified IRB Professional are preferred
