ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: Research Integrity & Compliance is a unit within the USF vice presidential area, Office of Research & Innovation. The main function ofRIC is to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to the responsible conduct of research. The Division isresponsible for such programs as the Human Research Protection, Animal Safety, Diving Safety, Radiation Safety, Biosafety, ScientificMisconduct, Conflicts of Interest in Research, and HIPAA, among others. DRIC has 36 employees and an annual budget of nearly $3million. Clients are USF research faculty, students, and staff, as well as researchers at affiliated institutions. POSITION SUMMARY: The IRB Manager plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with University Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) andInstitutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures related to research involving human subjects. The IRB Manager is responsiblefor oversight, administration and coordination of IRB policies, procedures and activities related to the protection of the safety, rights andwelfare of human research subjects, and for ensuring institutional compliance with governmental regulations related to human subjectsresearch. Expert knowledge and experience with the IRB process, including an appreciation of the ethical implications of clinicalinvestigation and an intimate understanding of federal and state regulations pertaining to human research is required. The IRB Managerwill supervise IRB professional and administrative staff. This individual reports to the Associate Director of Research Integrity &Compliance.
MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor's degree four years of experience in safety or research compliance; or a Master's degree and twoyears of experience in safety or research compliance. Progressively responsible experience involving safety or research compliancemay be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education. PREFERRED: Master's Degree in health related field or other discipline and five years of experience in research administration. Experience in auniversity or research organization setting. Proficient with computer programs. Experience in designing, operating and implementingelectronic IRB applications including but not limited to the Click Commerce IRB module. Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or CIM(Certified IRB Manager) certificate preferred or required upon meeting eligibility criteria.
