JOB SUMMARY:
The Cassat Laboratory studies host-pathogen interactions during invasive bacterial infection, skeletal cell biology, and osteo-immunologic crosstalk. By merging microbial pathogenesis, immunology, and cell biology, we hope to uncover mechanisms of altered bone homeostasis and antibacterial immunity during human diseases that affect the skeleton. Under direct supervision of the PI, this Research Assistant II position will provide support for specified research projects; collect, assess, and communicate data/results. Assist in general laboratory activities and operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direct supervision, the term research assistant will:
- Provide experimental and technical support for ongoing research projects.
- Perform experimental procedures following experimental protocols
- Collect and analyze data from experimental procedures and discuss results with the principal investigator.
- Document experimental results and maintain an organized laboratory notebook.
- Assist in general laboratory operation, such as preparation of stock solutions and other reagents.
- Assist with monitoring and stocking lab inventory.
- Assist in Surgical procedures and managing the laboratory's mouse colony
- Train students that will rotate through the lab throughout the academic year
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including maintaining and repairing equipment, according to manufacturer and university guidelines.
