Salus University is seeking a dynamic professional to fill the position of Assistant Director of Research at Salus University.
Primary Function: Supports the Dean of Research by providing administration of the department of Research and Development
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers Regulatory Committees and Boards of the Research Department, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Nuclear Regulatory Committee (NRC) and others that may be required.
Acts as liaison for the Dean with departmental and regulatory committees and boards.
Acts as Deputy Privacy Officer for research-related HIPAA issues.
Acts as back-up study coordinator for human research subjects
Administers departmental budget
Maintains departmental database
Monitors regulatory status of all research projects, regulatory committees and boards and Research Department: advising Dean PI and all other appropriate individuals of upcoming requirements for action well in advance of due dates.
Provides oversight of pertinent research personnel
Advises Dean about current issues and requirements related to research
Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements of federal, privately sponsored and intramural studies
Formulates and proposes Research Department policies and procedures
Coordinators with Manager Academic Financial Affairs (MAFA) regarding department fiscal matters
Interprets and advises research personnel concerning regulations and policies
Monitors and administers status of required orientation, training and evaluation of PI's, coordinators and other study personnel.
Administers audits of clinical studies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements mandated by federal and state government and other responsible authorities, study sponsors, and College regulatory bodies.
Ensures institutional compliance with mandated reporting to regulatory bodies.
Leads departmental and regulatory committee and board meetings.
Administers minute production of departmental and regulatory committees and boards in a time fashion
Composes correspondence related to departmental responsibilities.
Administers the maintenance and currency of departmental and regulatory committees and boards in compliance with internal and external requirements.
Administers maintenance and currency of departmental website information.
Administers seminar and colloquium program of the Research Department.
Travel as required.
Other related duties as assigned.

BA/BS degree in related field
Minimum 5 years experience in health related administration/management/research care required
Ability to interact effectively among doctors, institutional officials and department heads.
Previous experience with human subjects clinical trials or animal research desired
