Putting Telehealth to the Test: An Evaluation of the Use of Telehealth to Increase the Population-Level Impact of an Employer-Based Diabetes Prevention Program
The Health Plus Diabetes Prevention Program (HP-DPP) is a highly effective employer-based weight management program but limited reach has prevented the program from having a greater impact on obesity and obesity-related illness. This program evaluation will determine if adding a video-teleconference (VTC) participation option (as a telehealth platform) to the HP-DPP can increase the public health impact of the program by improving its reach while maintaining its effectiveness and implementation.
Assist PI with tasks related to research operations for the Health Plus Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP).
Coordinate overall research project
Use quantitative and qualitative research methods skills to participate in the design, coordination and conduct of research projects
Foster collaboration between team members, both internal and external to the department
Coordinate study team meetings
Serve as a liaison between Vanderbilt Health & Wellness, Health Plus , and study team
Coordinate participant interviews and may participate in other qualitative data collection
Data management and analysis
Use advanced programming expertise to manage data
Responsible for managing large and/or complex datasets
Coordinate development of datasets, data cleaning, data validation, and data reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of data management and programming codes
Draft sections of written documents (manuscripts, technical reports, research proposals, progress reports, etc.)
Prepare materials for presentations
Organize and format data for presentations, publications, and internal use
Creates charts, graphs, and tables to summarize analysis results
Maintain appropriate documentation of the program and research study to ensure compliance with policies and procedures set by Vanderbilt, the CDC and the NIH
Oversee submission process (including writing draft sections) for progress reports due to Vanderbilt, CDC, NIH as indicated
Oversee all IRB-related tasks for the study (approval requests, amendments, progress reports, etc.)
Contribute to peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts
Work with study PI and REDCap programmers to develop and refine participant portal
Oversee and manage participant completion of study-related tasks including e-consent, surveys/food frequency questionnaires, interviews, etc
Manage participant incentives and reimbursements for participation in research tasks
Assist PI/Medical Director of Health Plus , Health Plus Nurse Manager, and Health Plus Program Manager with tasks related to the execution and operations of the Health Plus DPP.
Serve as the primary manager of the DPP Participant Portal in REDCap
Assist DPP coaches with entering and accessing data in the DPP Participant Portal in REDCap
Manage inventory of general program supplies (workbooks, participant incentives, recipe cards, completion certificates, etc.)
Manage inventory and functionality of Bluetooth wireless scales and activity trackers provided to DPP participants for research purposes
Assist DPP coaches with Zoom software use when needed (example: arranging test calls between coaches and participants)
Assist with DPP promotion efforts via general Health Plus promotional campaigns/events/communications as well as outreach to physicians to encourage referrals
Design promotional materials for the DPP in consultation with Health Plus staff
Assist with scheduling and logistics for DPP information sessions, group sessions, reunion gatherings, etc
Assist Nurse Manager to submit data reports required for CDC certification of Health Plus ' DPP
Attend relevant Health Plus and DPP staff meetings
