The MCI Manager of Human Research Protections Program is responsible for:
1) Protecting the rights, welfare, and well-being of human subjects involved in research; 2) Enabling and supporting the MCI Research Program through an effective IRB process;
3) Establishing, managing, and ensuring effective HRPP, IRB, and related workflows and operational transparency.
In this position, you will oversee the essential components of the program: IRB administration, research compliance, research integrity, financial conflicts of interest, and training and education. You will assist the Signatory Official in responding to inquiries from the Office of Human Research Protections and the Food and Drug Administration. The Manager also facilitates support for IRB and Privacy Board review and approval, Data Safety Monitoring, Scientific Review, and additional functions of human subjects protections and research integrity (as such committees and boards may be established).
Bachelor’s degree required.
Certification from at least two of the following research organizations required: PRIM&R (CIP certification), Health Care Compliance Association (CHRC certification), SOCRA (CCRP certification), or ACRP (CCRA, or CCRC certification).
Ability, both in experience and available resources, of overseeing the MCI’s research protection program.
At least five years management experience overseeing the day to day operations of the following: IRB project submission process, central IRB agreements, reliance IRB agreements, scientific review, allegations of scientific misconduct, research-specific auditing and monitoring, electronic solution integration and maintenance, budgeting and strategic planning, and research-specific training and education, preferably in a healthcare or academic medical center environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of protections for research participants, as well as be familiar with the commitments under the Federalwide Assurances (FWA), in order to play a key role in ensuring that the organization fulfills its responsibilities under the FWA.
