A research analyst I position in the area of study coordination for human imaging research is available starting immediately in the Immunology Division in the Department of Neurology. Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree as well as outstanding attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills.
1. Assesses eligibility of potential subjects for approved studies.
1a. Knowledgeable of protocols in order to follow specific criteria for eligibility or exclusion.
1b. Ensures subject consent forms are completed.
1c. Prepare IRB related documentation
2. Initiates communication with study subjects.
2a. Contacts subjects to schedule study visits.
2b. Coordinates timing of study visits with PI and study personnel.
2c. Follows procedures to schedule required resources within Human Imaging Core.
2d. Facilitates subject visits to campus by providing information about parking, directions and other logistical information or assistance.
3. With initial supervision, performs basic data analysis and handling.
3a. Demonstrates expertise with Microsoft Office and other common software packages as well as knowledge of MIPAV, FSL MATLAB.
3b. Assists with writing of scholarly documents and preparation of scientific presentations.
3c. Prepare charts, graphs, and tables according to accepted research practices.
3d. Prepare brain samples for scanning and perform basic histology.
4. Conveys a basic knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures, and regulations governing human subject research and incorporates them in the conduct of research and care of participants.
4a. Possesses a basic awareness of the Vanderbilt policies and regulations governing the protection of human subjects.
4b. Knowledgeable of IRB protocol for each study.
5. Exhibits strong communication and organization skills.
5a. With supervision, participates in periodic site visits from sponsor, regulatory authorities and others to review research, source documentation and research procedures.
5b. Participates in the determination of eligibility and recruits candidates for study participation.
5c. Collaboratively participates in study team meetings.
5d. Encourages open communication with participants by providing them with contact information and being available to answer, address or refer their calls.
5e. Schedules subject appointments while considering effective use of their time as well as study and Human Imaging Core resources.
5f. Compile and communicate results to supervisor or PI.
