The Clinical Research Nurse is responsible for supporting individual researchers at Bassett Medical Center who want to undertake clinical research. Assists in planning, coordinating and implementing clinical research protocols. Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary members to ensure successful progression and completion of clinical research protocols. Promotes good clinical practices in the conduct of clinical investigations by assuring compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements and by collecting, recording and maintaining data source documentation. Responsible for delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process for clinical research protocols. Contributes to the support of patient care through interdisciplinary teamwork.
The clinical research nurse is crucial to the coordination and implementation of clinical research protocols. This position offers opportunities to engage with research participants and investigators in many different disciplines. The Research Institute offers a supportive and engaging work environment: Monday-Friday, usual hours 8-4:30, although flexible and may vary as needed.
Graduation from an accredited Baccalaureate or Associate Professional Nursing Program.
At least one year's experience as a Registered Nurse.
Current NYS licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (or ability to obtain if currently has out of state licensure)
BLS Certification required
ACLS Certification required within 1 year from date of hire
IRB Certification (obtained through Bassett Healthcare Research Institute) required within one month from date of hire.
Demonstrates competency in required nursing skills
Ability to assess patient status and take appropriate action as required
Able to self-direct
Able to function independently, yet also function within a team environment
Familiar with statistics and experimental design
Familiar with research protocol development
Ability to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Applications)
