Innovation is critical to the future of health care. The Sharp Center for Research (Center for Research) supports innovation through its commitment to safe, high quality research initiatives that provide valuable knowledge to the San Diego health care community, and positively impact patients and community members. The Center for Research includes the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Outcomes Research Institute (ORI).
The HRPP is responsible for the ethical and regulatory compliant oversight of research conducted at Sharp, and includes three components: the organization, the researchers and the IRB.
The IRB seeks to promote a culture of safety and respect for those participating in research for the greater good of the community. All proposed entity research studies with human participants must be reviewed by the IRB in order to protect participant safety and maintain responsible research conduct.
The ORI facilitates interdisciplinary research on health care practices, through collaboration with Sharp investigators across all phases of a study, including design, IRB approval, data collection, analysis and dissemination of results.
In March 2016, Sharp received accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs. The accreditation acts as a public affirmation of the HRPP’s commitment to following rigorous standards for ethics, quality and protection for human research.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Current unencumbered California RN license
Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or Certified Clinical
Research Administrator (CCRA)
Five or more years Clinical Trials management experience required in the therapeutic area of department
Proven team leader
Ability to multi-task and collaborate with various departments to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Expertise in the study start-up process including IRB submissions and sponsor regulatory documentation
Strong organizational and planning skills, with proven ability to support and coach staff to successfully manage multiple clinical trials
Proven ability to meet or exceed recruitment expectations and/or accrual requirements
Expertise with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
Ability to develop and maintain dashboards and establish metrics and timelines
Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Access, Excel and spreadsheet analysis; comfortable with a variety of database applications
