The Office of Research Support & Compliance at The University of Texas is seeking applications for an IACUC Compliance Program Coordinator and an IACUC and IBC Manager.
The IACUC Compliance Program Coordinator works closely with the IACUC Manager in maintaining an effective and service-oriented animal research compliance program, ensuring conformance to all legal and ethical standards regarding the use of animals in research. This position requires thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations as well as policies, guidelines and ethical codes related to animals in research. The IACUC Compliance Program Coordinator processes incoming protocols and works with researchers to develop complete and accurate protocols for IACUC review. This position serves as the primary liaison between department, investigators and research staff, providing regulatory guidance related to the animal research community. This includes advising researchers in the preparation of IACUC protocols, and developing and leading training and educational outreach efforts. The IACUC Compliance Program Coordinator oversees the recording and production of official minutes of all meetings, including editorial review of minutes to ensure proper documentation of IACUC actions. This position also assists in coordinating the semi-annual program review and facility evaluations.
Qualified candidates for the IACUC Compliance Program Coordinator position will have a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the work to be performed and three years of experience coordinating or administering a program. Experience with computerized databases and Microsoft Office is essential.
The IACUC and IBC Manager works closely is responsible for the daily operational oversight of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) program areas. The IACUC and IBC Manager provides training, direction and guidance to the compliance program coordinators, who are direct reports, to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as departmental customer service standards. This position requires thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations as well as policies, guidelines and ethical codes related to animals in research, as well as rDNA, biohazardous agents, materials and toxins. The IACUC and IBC Manager oversees the maintenance of IACUC and IBC policies and standard operating procedures, and revise current procedures and/or implements new procedures to assure compliance with regulatory and accreditation guidelines and requirements. The IACUC and IBC Manager reviews research protocols, IACUC and IBC files, and minutes as part of a continuing quality assurance/improvement program. The IACUC and IBC Manager mobilizes appropriate resources (people, funding, materials, and support), as necessary, to accomplish tasks.
Qualified candidates for the IACUC and IBC Manager position will have a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the work to be performed and three to five years of experience in a supervisor/manager capacity. Candidates will have the ability to maintain confidentiality when exposed regularly to highly sensitive issues and situations. Experience with computerized databases and Microsoft Office is essential.
